1.- ¿Cómo se le ocurrió trabajar con clavos de herrar?

En realidad no se me ocurrió a mí. A fines de la década del `60 y comienzo de los `70, esta artesanía era moda. Allí, en 1971 y junto con un grupo de artesanos, iniciamos la Feria de Plaza Mitre en San Isidro, Buenos Aires. Yo, que en ese entonces estudiaba Veterinaria, comencé a “jugar” con los clavos.

1.- How did you come up with working with nails?

It didn't really occur to me. In the late '60s and early' 70s, this craft was fashion. There, in 1971 and together with a group of artisans, we started the Miter Plaza Fair in San Isidro, Buenos Aires. I, who was studying Veterinary medicine at the time, began to "play" with the nails.

2.- ¿De qué material son los clavos de herrar?

Los clavos de herrar que utilizo para mis artesanías son de tres materiales:
- Acero. En el caso de los que se utilizan para el aperitivo. Estos son los clavos que realmente se usan, y se siguen utilizando,
para el herrado de los caballos. La única diferencia que tienen los que van en los copetineros es que están tratados con un baño
electrolítico que los hace inalterables y no trae problemas en el uso alimentario.
.- Plata 925. Algunas piezas (aros, gemelos, trabas de corbata…) son realizadas íntegramente en plata 925.
.- Peltre. El resto de las artesanías se confecciona con peltre.

2.- What material are the nails of blacksmithing?

The nails of herrar that I use for my crafts are of three materials: .- Steel. In the case of those used for the snack. These are the nails that are actually used, and are still used, for the horses' horses. The only difference that those who go in the copetineros have is that they are treated with an electrolytic bath that makes them unalterable and does not cause problems in food use. .- 925 Silver. Some pieces (hoops, cufflinks, tie ties ...) are made entirely in 925 silver. .- Pewter. The rest of the crafts are made with pewter.

3.- ¿Se utiliza cuero o materiales sintéticos?

 Todos los componentes tienen auténtico cuero argentino, de la mejor calidad del mundo.

All components have authentic Argentine leather, of the best quality in the world.

4.-Los materiales son inalterables?¿Son apropiados para uso alimentario? ¿Traen problemas de alergia?

Como dije, los clavos de acero tienen un baño electrolítico que los hace inalterables y está autorizado para uso alimentario. En el caso de los de peltre, se utiliza un material que no contiene metales tóxicos o que causa alergias. Según lo confirmado por los análisis realizados por el Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI), la referencia más alta en Argentina para estos estudios (Ver certificado http://bit.ly/IntiHerrarte)

4.- Are the materials unalterable? Are they appropriate for food use? Do they bring allergy problems?

As I said, steel nails have an electrolytic bath that makes them unalterable and is authorized for food use. In the case of those made of pewter, a material that does not contain toxic metals or that causes allergies is used. 5.- Los complementos (argollas, trabas, separadores y mosquetones) ¿de qué material son? ¿Producen alergias?

Todos los complementos son realizados en acero quirúrgico (316). Dicho material no trae problemas alérgicos al contacto con el
cuerpo

All accessories are made of surgical steel (316). Such material does not bring allergic problems to contact with the body.
